Dunkel Bros. was contracted to go to Catalina Island to rig out a large generator that was in need of being rebuilt. This job required dedicated barges to and from the island as well as specialized trailers, forklifts, rigging gear, and the experienced crew to make it go smoothly.
Dunkel Bros. Machinery Moving was featured with Trench Shoring Company in CalContractor Magazine (2012, Issue 10, pages 10-14) for their work in helping to move the Space Shuttle Endeavour from LAX Airport to California Science Center.
Dunkel Bros. was contracted by a local bottling facility to store their new nitrogen tank and then deliver and place it when they were ready to install it. This tank was approximately 70 feet long and 85,000 lbs. The added difficulty was it could only be lifted or moved by connecting to the two lifting eyes on top of each end.
Dunkel Bros. received and offloaded two turbines (crates) at approximately 140,000 lbs each. These two loads came in on 9 axle trailers with escort vehicles and required special routing through each city because they were each over-dimensional and very heavy.
