San Buenaventura is the original name of the city but it is famous as Ventura. The town was built in 1866. The population of the city is approximately 106,744. This town is blessed with scenic beauty and to spice the charm the natives and authorities have adorned with several recreational activities.

A regal theater is located proudly in the downtown of Ventura named Majestic Ventura Theater. This beautifully constructed theater is staged as avenue for the concerts. Many bands performed here including The Doors, Van Halen, X, Paramore, She Wants Revenge, Pennywise, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Fugazi, Incubus, Tom Petty, They Might Be Giants, and Modest Mouse. Few native artists like Bruce Kimmell, Gregory Hillman and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy also performed at this venue.
